The inspiration and motivation for Pot Heads Coffee House were two
amazing and inspiring family members, Mila and William.
We strive to keep both of their memories alive and well, and had you
had the chance to meet them, our vibe and theme would be crystal clear. Mila & William unfortunately left us too soon, but their memory is celebrated daily with our team and family.
Mila suffered from epilepsy from the age of 6, but that did not stop her from enjoying life. When Mila was 7 she started her journey as a competitive baton twirler and was a member of the Florida Twisters until 2016, and The Russell Allstars. At age 11 the doctors thought she outgrew the epilepsy,
but they were mistaken. A few months after getting off all the seizure medications, her health took a turn for the worst. In June of 2017, Mila was diagnosed with anorexia, which caused her seizures to return. The last 2 1/2 years of her life consisted of months of inpatient and outpatient care.
In addition to epilepsy, she also suffered from depression, gastroparesis, anxiety and conversion disorder. Mila had a lifelong dream of training dogs
for people with disabilities, in particular seizure disorders. At the age of 10, when her parents purchased her a dog, Mila took it upon herself to train her dog to respond to seizures, even though at that time her seizures were under control. In March of 2019 Mia (Mila’s miniature poodle) showed exactly how special she was by going into action upon Mila having an episode at home and later became Mila's service dog.
Unfortunately Mila was never able to pursue her dream. On October 23, 2020 Mila had multiple seizures in the middle of the night which caused her heart to go into arrest. She passed away 15 days before what would have been her 15th birthday. Her dream was truly a beautiful one, and one that
we (her family) continue to try and keep alive by donating to Paws With A Cause in her name. Paws With a Cause is an organization that trains dogs
for people with disabilities. The recipients receive these special dogs at no cost to them. If you would like to help keep Mila's dream alive please make a donation in her name by clicking on the link below.
We sincerely appreciate your donations, and thank you in advance for keeping Mila's Dream Alive!
Another amazing cause we support in honor of
William, is the USA Swimming Foundation.
